Taylor Swift fans are convinced that she’ll finally return to the Met Gala red carpet for tonight’s 2025 event – and there’s an abundance of theories as to why.
The 35-year-old singer has been absent from the biggest night in fashion for eight years now, but many believe that this is the year that she will break her lengthy hiatus.
One clue that has led them to this conclusion is that Taylor’s boyfriend Travis Kelce was recently spotted in the city.
At the beginning of the month, on May 1, Travis was seen filming a commercial what appeared to be the Tribeca neighborhood.
Donning a white cable knit sweater and slacks, he strolled through the streets with an army green duffle bag in tow.
Although he seemed to be roaming around the city without Taylor, many questioned whether he might be in town ahead of the Met Gala.

Furthermore, on April 29, an insider claimed to Page Six that Taylor would finally make her return to the star-studded bash.
Despite their reports, however, there was no word yet on whether Travis will accompany her.
Many Swifties have also shared their theories on social media.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one said: ‘Travis Kelce appeared in New York. He will attend the Met Gala with Taylor Swift.
‘Taylor Swift at the Met Gala wearing a newspaper dress yup!’ enthused one.
However, there has yet to be any official on the record comment confirming either of the couple’s attendance, so don’t get your hopes up yet.

Taylor was last seen at the Met Gala in 2016 when she was one of the co-chairs.
This year’s Met Gala theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style — drawing from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour are the co-chairs.
Simone Biles, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Janelle Monáe, Angel Reese, Sha’Carri Richardson, Olivier Rousteing, and Tyla are among the confirmed guests.
Vogue will livestream the gala starting at 6pm Eastern on Vogue.com, its YouTube channel and across its other digital platforms.
Teyana Taylor, La La Anthony and Ego Nwodim will host the stream. Emma Chamberlain will also do interviews on the carpet.
