Earlier this week following the penultimate season six episode of Handmaid’s Tale, Taylor Swift fans concocted a theory that the pop star made a cameo appearance.
The episode featured a scene in which an unidentified member of the Mayday rebellion got out of a vehicle, prompting Swifties to speculate that the silhouette belonged to the 35-year-old singer.
Days later, the star of the Hulu series has put the rumor to rest.
In an interview with TVLine, Elisabeth Moss was asked about the wild notion, to which she replied about Taylor’s die-hard fanbase: ‘God, I love them.’
She added, ‘That’s amazing! Of course it’s not [Swift]. Of course it’s not her. Oh my God, that’s hilarious. I love that idea, though.’

‘I mean, Josh Charles was in her music video… [Using her music] was something that, as you probably know, I’ve wanted to do, well, from the beginning,’ she explained to the outlet with a laugh.
‘I was going to say, “Since I’ve been a director,” but from the beginning! I’m so glad that we didn’t do it before and waited until now. Now that we have it, I’m so glad it happened the way that it did,’ the actress shared.

Adding to the hype, Taylor’s song Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version) was soundtracked in the opening scene; still from season 3
In reaction to the Taylor song appearing in the episode, titled Execution, her fans went wild online.
One fan wrote on X: ‘Taylor: Reclaims music rights. Also Taylor: Soundtracks a rebellion. Us: Standing, clapping, crying.’
‘OMG WE ARE EXCITED FINALLY,’ another chimed in.
‘Taylor in The Handmaid’s Tale?? I did not have that on my 2025 bingo card, but I’m so here for it,’ someone else weighed in.
Elisabeth revealed how the moment came about, telling Billboard, ‘I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment.’
She continued, ‘Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself — and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties — it’s such an honor to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.’
